Advanced Materials Fuel the Engine of Economic Growth A bold statement? But according to Dr. Sanford Markowitz, "By . . . 2030, over three-quarters of all economic growth will be attributable to the development and application of advanced materials."* So if advanced materials really fuel the engine of economic growth, who will be driving the bus? Clearly the next generation will step into that role, but we are all painfully aware of the decline in the study of science and engineering. There is a critical need in the next generation for two things: a clear passion for math, science and engineering, and an open source of reliable information. Enter The SAMPE Foundation. The SAMPE Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization founded in 2007 to kindle the passion for materials development and supply the fuel for growth and innovation. As an adjunct to SAMPE, the Foundation seeks to apply its funds to stimulate an interest in and access to the tools required for future technological growth. That is why The SAMPE Foundation has chosen to support projects like the MIT Women’s Initiative, a program established wherein undergraduate and graduate female students instill female students in grades 7 through 11 with their passion for Science, Math and Engineering. And for all of this, The SAMPE Foundation offers you the opportunity to invest directly in the future. Each tax-deductible contribution will be applied by a panel of experts in the fields of education, communications, materials science and engineering to programs and projects designed to strengthen the materials development communities. For more information on the SAMPE Foundation, email information@sampefoundation.org. To make your tax-deductible investment in the future, send your contribution to: THE SAMPE FOUNDATION
